***A solid 4.5 with wiggle room.***
A cozy, gimmick-less little German spot that cranks out some REALLY freaking good food true to its heritage.
We walked right in and sat at the bar where I enjoyed Ice cold German imports and absolutely destroyed an incredible Jägerschnitzel with Spätzle (housemade egg noodles sautéed in butter) & Kartoffelsalat mit Speck (potato salad with bacon). The schnitzel was perfectly crispy of the outside, the spätzle melted in my mouth and the potato salad was, let's just say excellent.
The portions you will receive here are very generous and I can't wait to get back!
If I had only one complaint to take away from my meal it's that I ordered a VEAL Jägerschnitzel and received chicken. My fiancé ordered chicken and received veal. It's not a huge deal, which is why I didn't bother mentioning it while there.
Delicious spot, which I'll be back to very soon. -

Hole in the wall bar with booth and high tables for dining. Food was served fast and hot. Beer was cold. Service was attentive.
German themed with a real cuckoo clock
Limited selections for dinner, simple and yet yummy. -

Short Review: Serious Foodie?? Pride yourself on your home Chef-ing? This place is freaking amazing. Went on a quiet night, mid-week in the middle of June. Amazingly fresh Mussels done in simple and classic style. Fresh homemade fettuccini cooked perfectly. Thoughtful and casual staff who know their food, wine, and beer. Damn! This small, charming place is good. A special night, food-wise.
Longer Review: sometimes, when you're a foodie, you happen upon a meal so wonderfully done, it reminds of why you feel that way. Cafe Rustica gave me one of those evenings. Plain and simple, the food was so good that night, I'm still thinking about it and smiling. I can't say enough how perfect the Mussels Mariniere were. Transcendental. I love to cook them myself; grew up next to the ocean. The ones I had that night could make the most jaded Chef's eyes start misting over like a bunch of drunk Dads at a semi-finals game. The Waitress who was also tending bar that night was outstanding. Casual yet completely the expert on all the food, wine, and beer selections. The fettuccine that night was fresh and absolutely perfectly done. One of those meals that reminds you why great food is a joy. Thanks Guys. -

Last Saturday we went to one of our favorite Richmond restaurants for some authentic German cuisine! This was our 2nd visit and again the food was AMAZING! Very generous portions at reasonable prices. Cozy little place with great service! We will be back SOON!

Traveled to Richmond for work and was glad Yelp helped me find this place. A local spot with limited seating. When you get there, the food does not disappoint. The schnitzel is served in many ways and I don't think you can go wrong either way. Huge portions and delicious sides. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area.
